New York’s Entrepreneurship Falls Behind

An article in Crain’s New York Business points out that New York is falling behind the rest of the nation when it comes to entrepreneurship. Only 15% of New Yorkers are involved in some type of entrepreneurial activity, while the national average is 18.8%, according to “The Global Entrepreneurship Monitor 2009: New York State Report.”

This study supports a report from the Center for an Urban Future that New York City produces less entrepreneurial ventures than other media and tech cities while still having access to at least as many institutions and research dollars.
