NYC Council Cttee To Look at Unified Call Taking System
NY City Council's Public Safety Committee, chaired by City Councilman Peter Vallone, will be examining NYC's Unified Call Taking System, about which we've written previously, at a hearing tomorrow.
The committee plans to investigate Fire unions' complaint that the 911 operators are not getting correct information from callers, leading them to send out rigs that are not prepared, and the 911 operators' union's complaint that the system, which uses the NY Police Department's computer system to send electronic messages to fire dispatchers, is not sorting and handling messages properly.
