Foursquare Considers Plans to Monetize Service

In an interview with Venture Capital Dispatch's Timothy Hay, Foursquare co-founder Dennis Crowley discussed possible plans to monetize this mobile social-networking service, including:

  • Working with local merchants to get them involved in couponing or loyalty programs
  • Approaching advertisers about offering rewards to users who complete a series of tasks
  • Making development tools available for monthly fees
Hay adds that Foursquare now has "nearly 150,000 users" and "tens of thousands more jumping aboard each month."
