Report: Verizon Falling Behind in Landline Repairs
According to a report issued by the New York State Public Services Commission, Verizon failed to make timely phone line repairs in a record-high 61% of cases from July to September. The report adds that Verizon resolved just 15.5% of out-of service complaints within 24 hours- down from 50% in the same months last year.
Verizon spokesman John Bonomo responded, telling The New York Daily News that many more customers, who now rely on their cell phones, are delaying repairs to accommodate their own schedules.
The News doesn't think that this explains why the 24-hour rate dropped from 50% to 15.5% in one year and cites New York City customers and union bosses who are charging that Verizon has neglected its copper phone lines in favor of the new FiOS fiberoptic network.
