Bloomberg Calls for MTA Technology Czar

Mayor Michael Bloomberg is asking that the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) reinstate the Chief Technology Officer position that it had filled in the 90s. Without a tech leader in the organization, Bloomberg feels that the MTA is not able to keep updated with the tech advancements that are having benefits to commuters in other major cities like London. A top contender for the position is Jay Walder, who implemented smart-card technology in London.

Currently, each MTA division handles its own tech projects.
