Onfronts Addresses Brands and Online Video
Brands and online video content producers gathered yesterday at the New World Stages for the first annual Onfronts to explore how the their two worlds can continue on the journey of convergence.
Panelists during a session moderated by New York Times' media reporter Brian Stelter discussed current trends, emphasizing that today's environment is in "its awkward phase of adolescents." While brands are eager to experiment with online video and original content, the participants stressed the need for content producers to not simply pitch show ideas, but rather come to the table with a picture of their current audience and how this audience fits the brand. The panelists included Christine Beardsell, VP/creative director at Digitas, Ian Schafer, CEO and founder of Deep Focus and Douglas Scott, president of OgilvyEntertainment.
The rest of the conference offered previews of upcoming online video series. For a rundown of worthwhile content, you can check out GigaOm's coverage.
