High Volume Causes Unemployment Services to Crash

About 10,000 unemployed New Yorkers an hour were calling New York State's unemployment hotline yesterday, causing the system to crash. The unemployment insurance Web site soon followed. Both systems were down for about five hours. Service is now restored.
